Naples, Positano, & Amalfi Coast TOUR
FROM NAPLES TO POSITANO, EXPLORE THE AMALFI COAST
Explore one of Italy’s most famous coastlines with our 8-day Naples, Positano, & Amalfi Coast Tour . Travel in style and take home long-lasting memories of breathtaking scenery, rich history dating back to Greek civilization, and the colorful culture of the Campania region.
The first two days are in the bustling city of Naples where a quiet boutique hotel in the middle of the old town is the starting point to delve into the complex local history. Relish the flavors of Neapolitan culinary traditions with a look at the food market and dinner in an award-winning pizzeria.
With a small group of only 6 – 12 guests, we gain access to intimate experiences, like a boutique winery perched on the cliff of the Amalfi Coast where we dine surrounded by fragrant lemon and olive trees.
Unlike many tourists who only stop in Positano for a few hours, enjoy five consecutive nights in the colorful sea-view rooms with a balcony of a cozy family-owned inn.
From Naples to Positano, explore the Amalfi Coast with luxurious inclusions: splurge on a private boat ride to Capri, with a chance to enter hidden coves and grottos, toast with a glass of Prosecco, and maybe jump for a refreshing swim in the blue water of the Mediterranean.
Meet a passionate local food expert on a foraging trekking where we learn about sustainable food. Visit Sorrento, Atrani, an organic mozzarella farm, the ruins of Pompei with a knowledgeable local guide, and sip wine at the foot of Mt. Vesuvius.
Let us worry about the challenging logistics of getting around busy roads and crazy traffic, as you relax and take in La Dolce Vita on this Naples, Positano, & Amalfi Coast Tour.
I can’t imagine doing this tour by ourselves. Driving in this part of Italy is truly a nightmare and our driver was so good at it considering that the logistics getting in and out of Positano were complicated to say the least. Every single day was filled with a surprise and the one thing that I will never forget was the view from our room.

Day 1 – Welcome to Naples, Positano & The Amalfi Coast Tour
Meals included: dinner
Accommodation: Naples
Arrive on your own in Naples and jump on one of the inexpensive white taxis for a short ride (20 minutes from the airport) to the hotel situated in the heart of Naples’ city center.
Your home for the next two nights is in an elegant 4-star hotel, a former aristocratic villa with its own quiet courtyard. A true oasis of peace steps away from Naples’s major attractions.
Late afternoon, join your Tour Manager for an orientation meeting and a ride on the famous funicular, to the upper neighborhood known as Vomero. Enjoy the postcard-like picture of Vesuvius’s Bay from this privileged point of view before savoring an award-winning pizza from a wood-fired oven.

Day 2 – Tour of Naples, and the vibrant Food Market
Meals included: breakfast, and lunch
Accommodation: Naples
This morning we follow our local guide, for an introduction to the history, folk traditions, and the flourishing art scene that makes Naples a city like no other in Italy.
From the storied Spaccanapoli, with its artisan shops, and impressive churches, our walk will reach the vibrant food market of the Spanish Quarters.
As we wander among food stalls and shops, our tour ends in a cozy trattoria where we partake on iconic recipes of the capital of the Mediterranean.
This afternoon is yours to explore Naples at your own pace. Maybe you can join an evocative tour of the underground tunnels or visit the Royal Palace (not included). You can also decide to rest a bit in your hotel room before going out again tonight and try one of the restaurants suggested by the tour manager.

Day 3 – Marvel at the Ruins of Pompeii and sip the Wines of Mt. Vesuvius
Meals included: breakfast, and lunch
Accommodation: Positano
After breakfast, we load the luggage on a minibus, and we drive to Pompei.
Our Naples, Positano, & Amalfi Coast Tour arrives at the foot of Mt. Vesuvius, where we take a step back in time with a knowledgeable and expert local guide and discover the archaeological site of Pompei, a former Roman city buried by volcanic ash after the devastating eruption of 79 A.D. Walking through the ruins of villas decorated with frescoes and mosaics, we learn how Romans used to live before the dramatic event that killed thousands of people.
Today’s lunch is served in a winery located on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius, whose rich soil full of minerals is key in the production of local traditional wines such as Aglianico, Pedirosso, and Lacryma Christi.
Later, drive along the breathtaking Amalfi Coast to the charming village of Positano which has inspired generations of celebrities and artists. From the balcony of your exclusive sea-view room, you can take in the beauty and admire the maze of steep stairs and alleyways below.
Tonight, the tour manager is there to provide an orientation on Positano and suggest seafood restaurants. Dinner is on your own so you can enjoy it at your own pace and decide to stay near the hotel or walk down by the beach.

Day 4 – Foraging Trekking, Cooking Class, Amalfi and Atrani
Meals included: breakfast and lunch
Accommodation: Positano
Late in the morning we follow a passionate food expert on an informative foraging trekking focused on edible and spontaneous herbs, seasonal vegetables, sustainable food chains, and local traditions.
Our harvest will be added to organic ingredients mostly from local food purveyors connected to the Slow Food Movement. We cook simple but tasteful recipes on a panoramic terrace of the Amalfi Coast.
Enjoy your al-fresco lunch surrounded by incredible Mediterranean Sea views that will conquer your senses.

This afternoon we keep driving along the coast spotting private villas, colorful bougainvillea and rock formations, all the way to the town of Amalfi.
Indulge in a tasting of locally-made limoncello and enjoy some shopping in the narrow streets and piazzas lined up with paper shops, cafes, and souvenirs.
Your Tour Manager is available for an optional walk to the nearby village of Atrani, a Unesco World Heritage Site for the incredible architecture and maze of steep stairs, covered passages, and hidden courtyards. We will try to spot some of the real backdrops of the recent Netflix series Ripley that was filmed here.
Dinner is on your own in Amalfi before driving back to Positano.

Day 5 – Day Trip to Capri
Meals included: breakfast
Accommodation: Positano
Get a new perspective of the Naples, Positano, & Amalfi Coast Tour as we sail to the world-famous island of Capri.
Meet your captain in Positano and board our private boat ***: you can decide to lay on the bow under the sun or to sit in the shade of the back.
Either way, enjoy from this privileged point of view the jaw-dropping views of hidden inlets along the Amalfi coastline. Later, we reach the southern coast of the island of Capri with its numerous colorful grottos and evocative rock formations.
We sail to the iconic Faraglioni and you’ll get a chance to swim in a quiet bay, away from crowds. Towels and a refreshing glass of Prosecco are provided!
After docking in Capri’s private marina, follow your tour manager in the upper town for an introductory walk and spend your free time at your leisure: maybe lunch in one of the exclusive restaurants or a hike to the remains of Villa Jovis, once the favorite spot of Roman Emperor Tiberius.
You will be enchanted by the rose gardens spilling over elegant villa walls just steps away from the glamorous fashion shops.
Return to Positano in the late afternoon and enjoy dinner on your own.
*** In case of rough sea conditions, for everyone’s safety and well-being, the ride to Capri may be arranged with a public ferry boat (without the chance of swimming and visiting the Faraglioni). In case of bad weather, the Capri excursion will be replaced by another land-based activity. No refunds will be given in either case.

Day 6 – Tour of Mozzarella Farm, Greek Temples, Winery on the Amalfi Coast
Meals included: breakfast, light lunch and dinner
Accommodation: Positano
This morning we explore the fertile crops and numerous stables of buffalo cows typical of the southern Campania region.
We visit a well-established organic farm where every day the world’s famous mozzarella cheese is produced by hand, piece after piece. Sit at the table for a fresh light lunch with a selection of cheese, salad, and homemade bread.
This afternoon, meet a knowledgeable local expert in the nearby archeological site of Paestum, where some TombGreek Temples are better preserved than those in Greece! The tour will include a look at the adjacent museum where the iconic “Tomb of the Diver” is kept.
Relax onboard our small bus as we drive back toward the southern tip of the Amalfi Coast. Meet local host Patrizia who proudly manages her family’s vineyard and lemon grove perched on a slope overlooking the Mediterranean.
Tonight, Patrizia’s mouth-watering dinner is paired with the DOC Amalfi wine, served under a pergola overlooking the coast and the sea.
Return to Positano after dinner.

Day 7 – Free Day and Fine Dining in Sorrento
Meals included: breakfast and dinner
Accommodation: Positano
At Meet Piemonte Tour Operator we make sure that our tours of Italy allow some time off to take in the beauty of the destination and a chance to relax.
Positano deserves even more so, whether you enjoy a late breakfast on the balcony of your sea-view room or spend some hours on the beach.
Explore the linen fashion stores, art galleries, and seaside cafés as you celebrate the last day in Positano.
Later in the day, we transfer to Sorrento for a late afternoon stroll along Corso Italia and a look at the nativity scene of the central Duomo.
A fine dining experience awaits us, on one of the most breathtaking terraces of Sorrento, overlooking the Vesuvius and the bay of Naples.
Enjoy exquisite seafood and freshly caught fish in a luxurious restaurant with a panoramic view, the perfect venue to end our Naples, Positano, & Amalfi Coast Tour.

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance can cover different trip components, from the full trip cost for unforeseeable reasons to medical expenses, emergency transport, luggage loss, theft while on tour, and evacuation. Without a membership, an emergency evacuation could cost over $100,000.
While each insurance company has different deadlines and policies, our partner Global Rescue allows customers to purchase their best insurance package (IMG Signature Plus) that includes the “Cancel-For-Any-Reason” policy within 20 days from the initial deposit. Other less-inclusive memberships can be purchased until the date of departure.
Meet Piemonte Tour Operator partners with Global Rescue to offer the world’s leading travel protection services. Medical and security emergencies happen. When they do, our guests can rely on Global Rescue to provide medical, security, travel risk, and crisis response services. More than one million members trust Global Rescue to get them home safely when the unexpected happens.
- To enjoy this tour, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances. This is not a physically demanding tour, however, there will be a lot of walking, often on uneven steps, cobblestones, uphill and downhill. One of the charming aspects of Italy is its historical and architectural conformation. Many towns and attractions can only be visited on foot, as vans and buses cannot access the pedestrian areas where most places of interest are located.
- Unfortunately we cannot accommodate wheelchairs or motorized scooters. Our tour managers and tour guides are unable to provide ongoing individual assistance to guests with walking difficulties or other physical needs.
- While the driving time on our tours is limited, getting to remote farmhouses and villages may require driving on windy roads that may cause motion sickness.
- Due to the historic nature of many of the luxury boutique hotels where we stay, some rooms may include stairs and differ in size and layout.
Before departure, guests will receive via email a complete list of things to know about Italy, such as what to pack, money, electricity, health, tipping, VAT refund, and more.
Why a Tour of Naples, Positano & Amalfi Coast with Meet Piemonte?
Meet Piemonte Tour Operator is a 100% Italian team aiming to dig into the local culture of one region at a time. Decades-long friends who are travel professionals, local guides, and hosts support us with the insight that makes the difference. After leading tours for large tour operators in their earlier careers, co-founder Marco Scaglione and his friends redesigned the Amalfi Coast itinerary to be a dream come true for travelers seeking an extraordinary Dolce-Vita experience. We allow our guests to soak in the vibe and beauty of Capri, Positano, and Sorrento with a slow-paced itinerary rather than rushing from place to place and we pamper them with exclusive luxurious inclusions. In the paragraphs below we explain how the accommodations, food, and logistics in one of Italy’s busiest coastlines, make our small group tour to the Campania region a unique and valuable experience.
Staying in Positano for Five Nights instead of Day Trip
While most tours only visit Positano for a few hours, with a small group of only 6 – 12 guests, we can venture into the narrow streets where a large bus cannot fit. We secure a charming boutique hotel with a handful of sea-view rooms in a perfect section of Positano, within walking distance to restaurants and shops (while many other operators stay in isolated lodgings). Staying five nights in Positano is a big treat as guests can experience the vibe of this town after dark when the crowds have left. Waking up in the morning and admiring the blue Mediterranean from your balcony or dining in Positano at night is a lifelong memory only a few lucky travelers get to do. The accommodations are spacious with a balcony overlooking Positano’s maze of steep stairs and narrow streets and the Mediterranean down below. Inspiring local ceramics, furniture, and fine details reflect the Amalfi Coast’s colors and vibe inside this family-owned boutique hotel.
Safe Driving and Seamless Logistics in Naples, Positano, & Amalfi Coast Tour
Meet Piemonte Tour Operator handles all the logistics of the Naples, Positano, & Amalfi Tour, allowing you to relax and fully immerse yourself in the experience. Driving from Naples to Positano and Amalfi is by far one of the most challenging experiences in Europe. Even most Italians who are not local to that area would struggle. From Naples’ heavy and confusing traffic to the Amalfi Coast’s road carved in rocks with hundreds of turns and heavy traffic, driving even a small car requires extra attention and the limited parking available is very expensive. As we described on our blog, this is the last region of Italy where renting a car and exploring on your own should be considered. With our intimate small group tour, you get to enjoy the views and leave everything else to us. From taking care of the luggage to being dropped off in front of our hotel in the heart of Positano, Meet Piemonte Tour Operator delivers a hassle-free travel experience where you can focus on the Amalfi Coast beauty rather than worry about getting around.
The Freshest Food of the Amalfi Coast
From the freshest mouth-watering buffalo mozzarella to patiently risen pizza, the food of Naples and the Campania region is probably the closest to what Italian-American food originated from. Yet, the selection of meals and food purveyors included in our Naples, Positano & The Amalfi Coast Tour carefully outline what locals eat every day from what has been invented abroad to remind of Italian food. Talking about the historic and cultural roots of such a culinary evolution, we partake in memorable farm-to-table lunches and dinners and shake hands with the locals who work hard to pursue high-quality ingredients. Seafood lovers will be in awe and vegetarians will savor seasonal produce, juicy tomatoes, fragrant basil, lemons, and more. With a fine dining experience included and a cooking class and foraging hike on terraces overlooking the Amalfi Coast, the culinary experiences of our tour will be a revelation for your taste buds.
Wine Tastings on Mt. Vesuvius and on the Amalfi Coast
As we venture along Naples, Positano & The Amalfi Coast Tour, and its breathtaking scenery, take a moment to savor the region’s world-class wines. The Campania region is home to some of Italy’s most renowned vineyards, nestled amidst the terraced hillsides overlooking the azure Mediterranean Sea or at the foot of Mt. Vesuvius. From crisp whites like the Amalfi DOC to robust reds like Aglianico, each sip will reflect the rich soil composition of the region. One day we focus on the minerals and ash-like soil of the volcano that concentrate the flavor and we enjoy lunch on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius. One evening we sit on a terrace surrounded by vineyards on the Amalfi Coast and learn how the combination of sun exposure and sea breeze create a unique microclimate from which grapes benefit.
Affordable Luxury Experiences in Naples, Capri and Positano
The value of our small group tour to Naples and the Amalfi Coast benefits from splitting luxurious inclusions with the group members. Experienced travelers, in fact, know that the cost of a private boat to Capri, a driver available multiple days from Positano, and guides would be much more expensive if booked just for two people. Unlike large groups, the six to twelve guests who sign up for our tour, enjoy an intimate and pampered travel experience. Nothing like exploring the beauty of the Amalfi Coast from the deck of a private boat, stopping for a toast in a quiet cove, and arriving at the private marina of Capri, away from the massive crowds of the ferry docks.
Even the first two days in Naples benefit from the small group size and the exclusive venues we gain access to. In the labyrinthine streets of Naples, where layers of history blend seamlessly with the hustle and bustle of modern life, we enjoy an award-winning pizza on a terrace, a privileged point of view of the Old Town. We can sneak through the food market stalls and reach a historic restaurant in the Chiaia district for lunch the next day. Whether it’s getting an espresso coffee standing at the counter of a coffee bar or catching the funicular to the upper part of Naples, we blend in our tour contrasting activities that would be much more stressful to arrange on your own.
Safety in Naples
Put your mind at ease with our luxury tour to Naples and the Amalfi Coast. Be reassured to explore the bustling streets of Naples with an expert local guide who provides not only great commentary but also a safe and hassle-free experience. By the end of the day, with a few recommendations to follow, you will be comfortable to venture out on your own and return to our centrally-located hotel at your own pace.
Meet Piemonte Tour Operator’s Flexible Conditions
Traveling is an ever-changing adventure, and unexpected situations may arise. On our luxury tour to Naples and southern Italy, we will be flexible and adaptable, ready to handle alterations or adjustments for even the most discerning travelers. With our flexible cancellation policy and partnership with Global Rescue, you can book ahead of time and enjoy your time in Italy, knowing that you’re covered. Your safety, comfort, and satisfaction are our top priorities.
Experience a slice of paradise and redefine your idea of beauty on this extraordinary journey through the wonders of southern Italy.
